Details

Dokra elephant set.
Handcrafted metal sculptures shaped through one of India’s oldest surviving metal casting traditions. Crafted using the ancient Dokra art form, the elephant figurines are known for their intricate detailing, distinctive textures, and raw handcrafted character. Often symbolising strength, wisdom, and prosperity, each piece is created through the traditional lost-wax casting technique where every sculpture is individually moulded by hand, making no two pieces exactly alike. The earthy metallic finish and tribal-inspired aesthetic bring warmth and artisanal richness to contemporary spaces.

Materials + Care

The Sculptures
Crafted using brass through the traditional lost-wax casting process, a centuries-old technique where a wax model is first shaped by hand and layered with clay.

Once heated, the wax melts away, leaving a cavity into which molten metal is poured. After cooling, the outer clay mould is broken to reveal the final form, ensuring that every piece remains unique and unrepeatable.

Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth. Avoid excessive moisture and abrasive cleaners to preserve the natural metal finish.

Source of Origin

Bastar, Chhattisgarh.
Recognised as a GI-tagged art form, Dokra craft from Bastar reflects generations of tribal metalworking traditions that continue to preserve one of the world’s oldest known non-ferrous metal casting techniques through contemporary handcrafted objects.
