Details

Toran from Tamil Nadu. Diyas from Maharashtra. Savouries from Chandigarh.
Three pieces. Three states. Three different materials.

Materials + Care

The Toran
Palm leaf strips, cut and plaited by hand. The material dries after weaving and holds its form without any treatment or coating. The natural texture and subtle variations are characteristic of handcrafted palm leaf work.

The Diyas
Natural clay, shaped by hand and left to dry in the sun before firing. Unglazed. The surface stays raw, slightly rough, and porous, which is the nature of uncoated terracotta.

The Savouries
Prepared in small batches using traditional recipes passed down through generations. Made with ingredients such as farm-sourced jaggery, pure ghee, dates, millets, nuts, seeds, and spices, the recipes draw from India's long tradition of wholesome snacking. Many ingredients are hand-cleaned, hand-sorted, and slow-processed using techniques such as hand pounding and small-batch roasting to preserve flavour and texture.

The focus is on simple ingredients with a clear source,
allowing the natural sweetness of jaggery and dates, the richness of ghee, and the depth of carefully selected spices to come through. The assortment may vary by batch based on seasonal availability and freshness.

Source of Origin

The Toran
Palm leaf weaving comes directly from Tamil Nadu's landscape, where the palmyra palm grows in abundance and its leaves have been woven for centuries. The toran is made by women from that region.

The Diyas
The clay is sourced from Maharashtra. The diyas are shaped and fired by women in Maharashtra who work with clay as their primary material.

The Savouries
Made by women's collectives in Chandigarh, drawing upon regional recipes and traditional food-making practices. Ingredients are sourced from farms and local producers, with an emphasis on quality, freshness, and minimally processed preparation methods.

The set arrives in a jute bag. Jute is woven from natural plant fibre grown in eastern India.
